Máni Orrason

The talented Icelandic singer-songwriter Máni Orrason returns with a new single. With its energetic vibes "I Go Up" offers a first listening impression of the ambitious new project of the mysterious artist.

It's astonishing how Máni Orrason is able to unite such different influences as Charli XCX, PC Music, Blink 182 and The Clash to something new and unique. "I Go Up" is mainly addressed to young, but lonely and isolated people who long for community. A matter of the heart from Máni himself: The song strengthens the back, appeals to one's own self-confidence.

"When I started making music, I lived on a farm in Iceland. I started playing guitar and all the stuff I found on YouTube, all the punk rock and pop punk stuff, it was an escape for me. I saw a way out of that life," he remembers. "And now I've written a song for my 13 or 14-year-old self. My favorite band back then was Green Day and I just wanted to write a two-minute fuck-you song with three chords.

When you break out the acoustic guitar, the words are the focal point unless you're the Jimi Hendrix of the acoustic guitar. So the words have to have meaning.
